Editing FAQs
What types of editing services do you offer?
We provide a range of editing services, including developmental editing, line editing, copy editing, and proofreading. Developmental editing focuses on big-picture elements like structure and content; line editing evaluates each line and paragraph to ensure effectiveness; copy editing addresses grammar, style, and accuracy; and proofreading ensures your manuscript is free of typographical errors.
How do I know which editing service is right for my manuscript?
The appropriate editing service depends on the current state of your manuscript and your goals. Our team can help assess your draft and recommend the most suitable type of editing based on your needs.
How does the editing process work?
You submit a draft of your manuscript in Microsoft Word. Your editor reviews and edits using Track Changes before sending back to you. You review and either approve, reject, or provide your own revisions, then submit the manuscript back to your editor to address any lingering issues before finalizing the draft.
How long does the editing process take?
Will I have a chance to review changes and provide feedback during the editing process?
Absolutely. We encourage authors to review the edits and provide feedback. All work by both parties is done in Track Changes to ensure an open and transparent process.
What if I disagree with the edits or suggestions made by the editor?
That’s going to happen! Your input is crucial, and you retain full control over your manuscript. If you disagree with any edits or suggestions, we can discuss alternatives and find solutions that satisfy your preferences while adhering to the Chicago Manual of Style and industry standards.
How much does editing cost?
Our editing fees vary based on the manuscript’s length and complexity as well as the type of editing service required. We will provide a detailed quote after assessing your manuscript and discussing your specific needs.
