Publishing & Distribution FAQs

Where will my books be available for sale?

Depending on your chosen platform, usually Amazon KDP or IngramSpark, your book can be made available through all major online retailers, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, Target, Bookshop.org, and independent bookstores.

Your royalties will be paid to the bank account you set up on your publishing account. The first royalty will be paid sixty to ninety days after publication, and the following payments will be paid monthly.

Once your book is published, you will manage your publishing account. However, you can always reach out to the PGP team with any questions about your account or contact the platform’s support directly.

Your publishing platform allows you to order as many copies as you need at an author discount. You will only pay printing and shipping costs for those copies. Then, you can sell them at events or through your website and keep 100% of the royalties.

Each publishing platform has a file review process that takes about three to five business days before your book is approved for distribution. The metadata can then take several additional days to feed out to retailers for preorder or sale.

If you intend to publish or print your book elsewhere, you can purchase your own ISBN. If you intend to publish or print your book with PGP through KDP or Spark, we will secure an ISBN provided by them.

Through IngramSpark, books can be made available for preorder once the files are complete, uploaded, and approved for distribution. Through KDP, only e-books can be made available for preorder. However, you can take preorders through your own website and then fulfill those orders with author-printed copies once files are ready.

Depending on your chosen platform, your book will be available to bookstores through wholesalers such as Ingram Content Group. Additionally, many bookstores will allow you to bring your own inventory if you give them a cut of the sales. Our marketing team can help set up those signings.
